Dear newcomer, welcome to Lørenskog!

As mayor of Lørenskog municipality, it is a great pleasure for me to welcome you as a new resident of Lørenskog. Whether you are young or old, have a family or are single, moving back home or are completely new to the municipality, I hope you will thrive here!

In Lørenskog you will find a good range of activities with many teams and leagues and great arenas for sports and culture. I am proud to be the mayor of a municipality that offers a great range of activities to its residents, for people with different backgrounds and interests, for the young and the elderly. I hope you find something that suits you.

Lørenskog is changing and we will finally get a proper city centre - with Skårersletta as the new high street. New cafés, eateries and shops are popping up. The buildings are being erected and the outdoor areas are vegetated and completed. Parks and playgrounds are established, and flower boxes and benches are put outside. We look forward to getting a city centre with many pleasant meeting places, activities, and street life.

One of the best things about Lørenskog is the cultural landscape through Losbydalen and the closeness to marka. For everyone who loves being out in nature and being physically active, Lørenskog is an Eldorado. Now you can drink a caffè latte in one of the new cafes in the city centre in the morning and cook your afternoon coffee on a campfire or primus in the wildest woods. It is fantastic!

As you understand, we have plenty to offer in Lørenskog. But it is only through making use of the local community and partaking in the activities as residents that we create good neighbourhoods and a vibrant and great Lørenskog. Together, we will co-create a good life in the municipality.

www.lorenskog.kommune.no provides information about all our services: schools and nurseries, health centres, home care services, construction projects and development projects.

We have our own Facebook page, where we share all types of information which is useful for the residents for whom the municipality is responsible, and an Instagram profile with pictures of everyday life in Lørenskog. Additionally, many schools, kindergartens and other services have their own Facebook or Instagram pages.

Our own cultural centre where you can experience theatre, art and concerts with famous artists and local stars, large and small productions - here you can experience your favourite artist a short distance from home! Here you will also find the library, cinema, culture school, Activity house Volt, youth café Downtown and Veiviseren café.

Meeting Points in Lørenskog

•    We have many different playgrounds, parks, and community facilities in the municipality. 
•    We also have many different types of sports facilities, both for active athletes and for those who exercise occasionally.
•    Our proximity to marka provides us with many access routes, walking and cycling paths. 
•    At Lørenskog volunteer centre (frivilligsentral) you will find information about meeting places associated with various activities.

Kindergarten and school

We have over forty kindergartens in Lørenskog, both municipal and private. In addition, a drop-in kindergarten is offered to children aged 0-6 who, for various reasons, do not have a place in a regular kindergarten. We have eight municipal primary schools, four lower secondary schools and two upper secondary schools. In addition, we have three private schools. Here you will find all information about school places in Lørenskog.

Garbage/waste management

It is ROAF - Romerike's waste distribution IMS - that handles household waste in Lørenskog municipality. On roaf.no you can find more information about what you can throw in your waste bin or well, and what you must deliver at the recycling station.

Municipal charges 

The municipality provides a number of services that residents must pay for. They are adjusted annually, and you can choose how often you want to pay the fees for the municipal services water, sewerage, waste disposal and sweeping/inspection. On our websites you can read more about how the fees are calculated and find answers to other questions. 

Public transport

We are a green municipality and work to facilitate pedestrians and cyclists. 
•    It is Ruter that provides the bus service in the municipality and between other municipalities. 
•    With VY you can take the train to Lørenskog, Hanaborg and Fjellhamar station. 
•    Electric scooters can be found in marked areas, and bike hotels can be found both in the centre of Lørenskog and at Lørenskog station. 

Hospitals, emergency rooms and GPs

Our local hospital, which is located in Lørenskog, is Akershus University Hospital, Ahus. It is one of Europe's most modern hospitals. Our emergency room is shared with other municipalities in Nedre Romerike and is located in Lillestrøm, Dampsagveien 4. In Lørenskog municipality, we have eight medical centres.
